Sadio Mane has come out and stated that despite Real Madrid being a great team, he has not been contacted by the club.
The Senegalese star joined Anfield a couple of years ago and has formed a great partnership with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
However, Mane has been linked with a move to Real Madrid but his latest comments should ease some of the tension that the Liverpool fans might have had about Mane leaving.
The former Southampton man was quoted by the Daily Star as saying:
“These are just rumours. I am not aware of anything and haven’t been contacted.”
Mane also gave some good news about him joining the side for the pre-season tour.
“I remain a Liverpool player and I will join my team-mates in the United States for the pre-season tour. Real are a great team, but I am focused on my team, Liverpool.”
The 26-year-old did score a goal in the World Cup but saw his side get eliminated in the group stages. Mane had a much better time for us last season as he scored 20 goals in all competitions and also provided 8 assists.
While the Senegalese wasn’t as prolific as Firmino and Salah, he still is an important cog in the Liverpool system and we cannot lose out on the 26-year-old to Madrid or any other club.

The speed, tenacity and his link-up play with the rest of the side are important to our playing style and these comments from the player are certainly encouraging.
