Liverpool have spoken with Championship side Aston Villa over midfielder Jack Grealish as the Villans look to raise cash via player sales.

The Mirror reports that Grealish’s valuation has been halved from £40million to £20million as Villa manager Steve Bruce has to sell players before bringing players even on a loan deal.

Grealish was one of the outstanding performers for the Championship side last season but their failure to make it to the Premier League seems to be hurting them.

The Championship side lost the play-off final and Tottenham have also been linked with a move for the 22-year-old. There still is an issue with Spurs even though they are leading the race to sign the player up.

Tottenham are willing to spend only £15m for the 22-year-old and Villa had hoped that there would be a bidding war for Grealish’s signature.

The report also claims that we have not made a firm bid for the 22-year-old but moving for Grealish would not guarantee a lot of chances for the English midfielder given that we are packed in this position with a number of players.

Naby Keita and Fabinho have also joined the ranks this season and Grealish would probably not get a lot of first-team minutes in the upcoming campaign.

Grealish would be a great squad player for us and that is probably not something he would want in a new club as he looks to prove that he can do the business in the Premier League too.
