Liverpool are close to signing Xherdan Shaqiri, as James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo tweeted that the Swiss star had cut short his holiday to have a medical at Melwood.

Shaqiri had been linked with a move away from the relegated Stoke City but no deal was conducted since the player was away with the national side at the World Cup.
The 26-year-old would certainly be a great addition to the side as he could be an X-Factor for us in the coming season. Shaqiri would also provide quality cover for our front three and at a reported fee of just £13.75 million, he could turn out to be the bargain of the season.
