Shaqiri cut short his holiday and flew into Merseyside last night. Medical is now underway. #LFC
— James Pearce (@JamesPearceEcho) July 13, 2018
Shaqiri had been linked with a move away from the relegated Stoke City but no deal was conducted since the player was away with the national side at the World Cup.
The 26-year-old would certainly be a great addition to the side as he could be an X-Factor for us in the coming season. Shaqiri would also provide quality cover for our front three and at a reported fee of just £13.75 million, he could turn out to be the bargain of the season.
The Liverpool fans certainly seemed happy with the news of Shaqiri cutting his holiday short to undergo a medical and here are some of the best reactions from Twitter.

Liverpool star fails to hide frustration despite celebrating PSG winner
Mohamed Salah didn’t score in Liverpool’s thrilling 3-2 win over Paris Saint-Germain. Instead, he almost cost us the game.
The former Roma attacker gave the ball away as PSG scored their equalizer in the 83rd minute. However, Roberto Firmino saved us with an incredible goal in stoppage time.
A video surfaced of Salah throwing a bottle after Firmino’s goal. Although the Egyptian celebrated the winner, he was seen flinging a bottle away.
Don’t listen to all the shit about Salah not celebrating Bobby’s goal. Look at him throwing his arms in the air.
Still not himself though is he? What do you think is wrong with him and his performances? pic.twitter.com/ms5pocZLBz
— TheKopTimes (@TheKopTimes8) September 19, 2018
“I think Salah’s celebrating in his own way. His hands were up at the beginning of that. The first picture [shows] his hands were up [celebrating].”
Salah hasn’t been at his best since the start of the season and only has a couple of goals to his name. Sadio Mane has taken up the scoring mantle in his place and has five goals to his name while Firmino now has three.
The Egyptian might have felt relieved at the winner. However, the 25-year-old was responsible for Kylian Mbappe’s goal and his muted celebration could be ominous for the opposition in the coming weeks.
Salah has been taking shots and finding the open spaces but things aren’t going well for him. There is no doubt that once he starts scoring regularly, there will be no stopping him. All he needs is a bit of luck this season.
“Who did the Pirate better?” – Some Liverpool fans go crazy after Klopp copies celebration post PSG win
Roberto Firmino scored the winning goal in an enthralling encounter against Paris Saint-Germain. Liverpool led 2-0 but were pegged back to 2-2 in the 83rd minute.
The Brazilian didn’t start the game but produced the telling moment in the 91st minute. Anfield went wild after the game and Firmino had another brilliant celebration in the spur of the moment.
The attacker covered his left eye after beating the PSG keeper. This could have been in reference to the eye injury he picked up against Tottenham last weekend.
Jan Vertonghen poked the Brazilian but it didn’t matter as we beat Tottenham and did the same to PSG too.
Firmino has had a number of celebrations in recent years such as “shooting the gun”, “kung-fu kicks” and taking his shirt off and getting yellow carded.
Jurgen Klopp also got into the act as he copied Firmino’s latest celebration during the post-match interviews and a number of fans reacted to the boss doing this bit.

(Video) Watch Sadio Mane completely destroy Neymar with filthy skill during Champions League clash
Liverpool’s match against Paris Saint-Germain was the pick of the clashes from the first round of Champions League fixtures and what a tie it was.
The Reds raced into a 2-0 lead, thanks to goals from Daniel Sturridge and James Milner. PSG weren’t giving up without a fight as Thomas Meunier pulled one back before half-time.
Kylian Mbappe scored in the 83rd minute but Roberto Firmino had the last laugh with the winner in the 91st minute.
The clash featured some of the best players in the world but there was one moment of brilliance from Sadio Mane.
The Senegal international couldn’t score in the game but he did destroy Neymar on the pitch. The incident happened in the first-half as Mane was attacking down the right and the Brazilian was trying to defend.
A move here, a drop of the shoulder there and poof, the Liverpool man burst into the box. Neymar was taken to the cleaners and it set the tone for the Brazilian to barely figure in the game.

Mane was excellent in the first half as we harried and bullied PSG into submission. The Senegal man didn’t score a goal but he surely made life tough for the French side.
We have started our Champions League campaign in excellent fashion and our next European tie is against Napoli in Italy.
Should Mane and the rest of the team go in with the same sort of mentality, a win against Napoli is a given. For now, we should plan for all three points against Southampton on Saturday.
