Nabil Fekir’s move to Liverpool could be complete after Martin Tyler commented on the player during the World Cup final on Sunday.

While the Lyon man came onto the pitch as a substitute as France won over Croatia 4-2, Tyler was quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying:

“The reason Fekir hasn’t moved already from Lyon to Liverpool is the structuring of the deal. Liverpool a bit suspicious about a problem that surfaced in a medical. They will take him, but payments will have to be in stages. He has proved his availability of a regular basis.”

This certainly comes as huge news for the fans as we aren’t used to hearing Tyler come out and confirm deals while on the television.

Fekir was almost a Liverpool player before the start of the World Cup but negotiations broke down during the medical. However, Tyler’s words do seem encouraging at this point.

Since the World Cup has come to an end, we have time to try and snag Fekir from Lyon. There is no doubt that Jean-Michel Aulas, the Lyon president, will try hard to get a good deal for his club. Furthermore, we might have to pay a bit of a premium given that Fekir is a World Cup winner.

However, if Jurgen Klopp really wants Fekir to join us next season, he must push for a move. And considering the fact that we have paid large amounts for Virgil van Dijk and Naby Keita, paying for the Frenchman should be no big deal.
