The wheels are certainly turning quickly on the Alisson deal as James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo has tweeted that the 25-year-old is having his medical today.

Alisson had cut short his holiday to take up the medical after his club AS Roma accepted a world record bid of £66.8million for a goalkeeper.

The 25-year-old was one of the top keepers in the world last season and was the No.1 for Brazil in the World Cup ahead of Ederson.

The Brazilian will fix one of the biggest problems and it does cast a doubt about the future of our other keepers, Simon Mignolet, Loris Karius and Danny Ward.

Alisson had been linked with a move to Anfield for a number of months and this is a statement of intent from Jurgen Klopp.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager has had his way with transfers as he seemed to be willing to do everything to get his man.

The German manager did the same thing for Virgil van Dijk as we signed him in January and we are now willing to break the bank for Alisson.

The 25-year-old could be the final piece of our team that could challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title and with a few weeks left to go in the season, we could expect more transfer activity from the Reds.

We have already signed Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri before moving for Alisson and it will be interesting to see if we are willing to sign someone else too.
