Timo Werner is willing to extend his stay at RB Leipzig and end the rumours of him leaving the Bundesliga side, according to Kicker (h/t Daily Mail).

The German international has been linked with Liverpool and a host of other clubs such as Bayern Munich and Manchester United.

However, the striker has decided to stick with the Bundesliga side despite thinking about the future.

“I’m fully focused on playing football, and I’m striving to have the greatest possible success with RB and hopefully return to the Champions League.”

One reason why Werner decided to stick with Leipzig is due to the arrival of new manager, Julian Nagelsmann.

The former Hoffenheim manager is one of the brightest in the German league and Werner was quick to point that out.

“Julian Nagelsmann is one of the best coaches in Germany. To get such a coach is also a statement to the league.

“Many others wanted him too. For me, that has played an important role in my considerations. It would be appealing to work with him for a few more years.”

While we do have Roberto Firmino leading the line for us, Werner would have been an excellent attacker to have too. The German is known for his work rate and his end product isn’t poor either. The 22-year-old scored 13 goals and provided 7 assists for Leipzig last season, from 32 Bundesliga games.

Should Werner have another quality season with the German side, there might be more rumours of him leaving. Hopefully, it will be us leading the race to sign him should he be sold in the future.
