Jeremy Cross of the Daily Star has claimed that our transfer dealings over the past year have made Manchester United look like “amateurs”.

The Chief Sports Writer of the Daily Star also lauded the work done by FSG despite facing ridicule when they took over Liverpool.

“Liverpool’s recruitment over the past 12 months has made United look like absolute amateurs.

“When Fenway Sports Group took over in October 2010, people mocked the fact a transfer committee was set up to oversee who was bought and sold at Anfield.”

Cross further mentioned that Jurgen Klopp spent big but had made some wise signings and added that FSG being located in Boston has helped them make Liverpool better.

There were words of praise for our transfer committee as Cross shared examples of their work. We made a huge profit on Philippe Coutinho and our front three of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah came in for just £100m (h/t Daily Star).

Cross further claimed that FSG have learned from their mistakes, such as Christian Benteke, and mistakes like these led to the creation of a sound business model.

Manchester City is the club that everyone has to beat and Cross believes Liverpool could finish above the Cityzens. Liverpool certainly spent well in the summer as we brought in four quality signings and this has to be the best chance we have of picking up a title under Klopp.

We play an attractive brand of football and if things click for us throughout, there will be celebrations at Anfield once the season ends.
