Jurgen Klopp has claimed that our trio of attackers are not at their best yet. The Reds have won their first four games of the campaign but haven’t been as fluent as last season.

Mohamed Salah has two goals to his name, Sadio Mane has four while Roberto Firmino has one.

Klopp was quoted by the Express as saying that although his side is not at the top level, he hasn’t seen any team that is at their best.

“They are not at their top level yet.

“But I don’t see anybody who did that so far because we are in the early part of the season.

“It is completely normal. They will be, but they are not there at the level of last season yet.”

The German claimed that even after four wins on the bounce, the team is still in “pre-season”. Klopp added that the side must work hard in the coming months and suggested that we have improved to a certain extent.

“We have improved. You can see that in the numbers, they are all heading in a good way.

“But we are not the finished article yet fitness wise and that is not a surprise.”

Liverpool were excellent in their first game against West Ham United but had to grind out wins against Crystal Palace and Brighton.

Klopp is right in suggesting that the team isn’t firing on all cylinders but our defence does look like a much better unit this season.
