Fulham midfielder Jean Michael Seri has revealed why he moved to the London club and declined the chance to join Chelsea, Tottenham or Liverpool.
The former Nice midfielder was close to joining Barcelona but a deal could not take place, as per the Metro.
The Ivorian has had a bright start to his Premier League career, scoring his first goal in the 4-2 win over Burnley last week.
The 27-year-old was quoted by the Metro as saying:
“When I played for Pacos de Ferreira in Portugal, Nice came for me and they really came.
“Fulham wanted me the same way.
“They said, ‘We want you, come to Fulham.’Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool, they saw me but they didn’t say, ‘We want you.’
“Because Fulham gave me this respect, although other clubs wanted me, I wanted to sign for Fulham.”
The Ivorian had a great time with Nice and was one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1 a couple of years ago.
His claim is interesting in the fact that we did not push for a deal. Liverpool did sign four players in the summer with Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri, Alisson and Fabinho coming in.
Of the quartet, Fabinho is yet to make an appearance for the side while Keita and Alisson have impressed to varying degrees.
Seri could have been a decent option for us but we are well-stocked with midfielders at the moment.

It will be interesting to track his progress in his first Premier League season and he could seal a move to a bigger club in the next campaign.
