Calciomercato (h/t Daily Mail) reports that Liverpool are leading the race for Cagliari star Nicolo Barella.
The report adds that the Reds are lining up a £31million bid with a number of clubs interested in the Italian.
The 21-year-old has made an impressive start to the season with one goal in four games. Juventus were interested in the midfielder but the report adds the club pulled out due to a high asking price.
Inter Milan and AC Milan are also keeping tabs on the 21-year-old, as per the report. Barella’s stock has been on the rise and the youngster made Italy’s squad for UEFA Nations League games during the international break.
Liverpool are blessed with a number of midfield options, meaning the Italian would face a lot of competition at Anfield.
We further have Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain recuperating from a serious knee injury from last season. The Reds were one of the biggest spenders in the summer and it has seen us start the season in great fashion.
Barella would be an interesting signing as he would add more options for our attacking midfielder’s slot.
The 21-year-old has a lot of talent and potential and it will be important to see how well he does this season.
