The first set of nominations for the 2018 Ballon d’Or is out and Liverpool’s Alisson has been shortlisted for the prize.

The 26-year-old joined the Reds from AS Roma in the summer after a great season with the Italian side. Alisson even participated for Brazil at the World Cup where he impressed.

The keeper has made a fine start to his season with five clean sheets from 10 games. The Brazilian was in great form on Sunday too, as he made a couple of quality saves to keep the Blues out.

There will be 30 candidates for the Ballon d’Or and the four other nominees released with Alisson were Sergio Aguero, Edinson Cavani, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale.

The next set of names featured another Liverpool star, Roberto Firmino. The other players listed were Diego Godin, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kevin de Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois.

There will be some other big names nominated for the award. Some Liverpool fans, however, were ecstatic with the keeper being listed and went a little crazy on Twitter.
