Harry Wilson has claimed that leaving Derby didn’t come to his mind in the winter window as he knew he would be staying here for the entire season.

The Welsh youngster joined the Rams from Liverpool on a season-long loan and has been fantastic for the Championship side.

Wilson has scored 10 times from 22 Championship games and has some fantastic free-kicks and long-range efforts to recall from this campaign.

The 21-year-old winger was speaking to DerbyshireLive (h/t Express) and claimed his entire focus was on Derby and wants to get them into the Premier League:

“At the beginning of the season, I signed a season-long loan, so it was always in my head that I was going to be here for the season.

“Now that window [deadline for loan recall clause] has gone, everyone knows I’m here to stay.

“I want to help Derby get into the Premier League.”

The youngster added that he wants to keep banging the goals in for the Rams and claimed he was “loving” his time at Pride Park.

The Rams lie sixth in the Championship and hold the final playoff spot. Wilson’s goals have been great and a few more could ensure a Premier League return for Frank Lampard’s men.

The Welsh attacker has been one of the loan success stories for Liverpool, and it will be interesting to see if the 21-year-old has a part to play in the team next season.

Liverpool don’t have a lot of quality cover for the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, but Wilson could turn out to be a star in the making for the Reds.
