Liverpool extended their lead over Manchester City in the Premier League, but couldn’t get the better of Leicester City at Anfield.

Newcastle beat the Cityzens earlier on Tuesday but ended up drawing against the Foxes 1-1 on a chilly Anfield evening. The home side started with Jordan Henderson playing as the right-back, and it was Sadio Mane who opened the scoring in the third minute.

The Reds had some chances to extend the lead but there was a lot of controversy when Harry Maguire was not sent off for fouling Sadio Mane at the halfway line.

Liverpool then gave a poor free-kick away just before half-time and Leicester made us pay with the unmarked Maguire scoring past Alisson.

The Reds came out charging in the second half and should have won a penalty when Naby Keita was clipped in the box. However, referee Martin Atkinson had a poor night as he didn’t give this decision, and some of his calls were questionable, to say the least.

The home side should take some solace in the fact that Leicester have defeated Manchester City and Chelsea this season, so a point isn’t all that bad.

We lead Manchester City by five points ahead of the next round of fixtures. Liverpool travel to West Ham. Several Liverpool fans were alright with the result given that we have a lead over the Cityzens, while some fans criticised the referee and the warm weather training trip to Dubai.
