Liverpool vice-captain James Milner is set to return to the starting XI for Monday’s clash against West Ham, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Englishman missed the 1-1 draw with Leicester City due to a suspension, and the report claims he will slot in as the right-back at the London Stadium.

Milner picked up a red card in the 4-3 win over Crystal Palace, and due to a lack of options, Jurgen Klopp had to play Jordan Henderson as our right-back against the Foxes.

The return of Milner will be a huge boost as the Englishman does a great job as a full-back. The report adds that Trent Alexander-Arnold is making great progress, but is eyeing a return for the game against Bournemouth. Henderson didn’t do a bad job at the back, but he didn’t look extremely comfortable either.

Jurgen Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com (h/t Liverpool Echo) that several players had problems going into the Leicester game, but that he hasn’t heard of any additional problems after the draw:

“Now we played that game and I didn’t hear anything so far (in terms of other fitness issues), nothing else happened, so that means I think a few players will come back or are in better physical shape again and that helps of course.”

The Reds hold a five-point lead over Manchester City, but that could be reduced to just two as the Cityzens play before we do in this round of fixtures.

Pep Guardiola’s men don’t have an easy game as they are against Arsenal and hopefully, we come out with an even greater lead over them after Monday.
