Liverpool FC transfer news: Liverpool face competition to sign West Ham’s Declan Rice

The Express reports that Liverpool face competition from Tottenham for the signing of West Ham’s impressive midfielder Declan Rice.

The 20-year-old has done well under Manuel Pellegrini this season and has a goal to his name too. The Englishman has played 22 Premier League games for the Hammers, and recently penned a new deal to stay at the club until 2024.

The report claims that Tottenham are planning a £35million bid for the 20-year-old and that Spurs have kept an eye on the midfielder for a while. Rice is one of the brightest English youngsters in the Premier League and would make a decent addition to the side.

Liverpool could do with some fresh blood in the midfield, especially given that James Milner and Adam Lallana are not getting any younger.

Conclusion

The English midfielder is comfortable playing in a deeper role, and could easily be a part of our midfield trio. The Reds have struggled a bit with their midfield options recently. Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum could not play in the 1-1 draw against West Ham.

Further, James Milner has had to slot in as the right-back against the Hammers due to injuries to Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez.

The Reds are still in a great position to win their first Premier League title, however, we cannot give up points from winning positions.
