Latest Liverpool transfer news: Liverpool interested in Bruno Fernandes as Sporting Lisbon face financial troubles

Correio de Manha (h/t Mirror) reports that Liverpool are interested in 24-year-old Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

The Portuguese international has been in excellent form for his side bagging 17 goals and eight assists from all competitions this season.

The report claims that Sporting are facing a financial crisis and are willing to sell their captain for as much as possible.

The club lost several stars such as Rui Patricio, Gelson Martins and William Carvalho recently too. The report adds that Sporting are ready to negotiate a deal once the summer transfer window opens.

Sporting looking towards a huge sale

The problem with the transfer lies in the release clause of Fernandes. The report claims that the 24-year-old has a €100million clause in a contract he only signed last July.

Fortunately, Liverpool are not looking to bid that high for the versatile midfielder and the report adds that AC Milan are also interested in Fernandes.

The Portugal star can play as a No.10 or in a deeper midfield position, something that would be useful at Liverpool.

However, the Reds have several options in the current team and the recovering Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could play for the first-team in the current campaign.

The Reds invested wisely in the summer and strengthened a couple of important spots in the team, and it will be interesting to see our activity once this season comes to an end.
