Latest Liverpool news: Some fans don’t want James Milner to play against Burnley

Liverpool face Burnley on Sunday with Manchester City holding a one-point lead over us prior to the round of games.

The Reds drew 0-0 with Everton last time around, and City ended up gaining a massive advantage in the Premier League title race.

Our next clash is at home against the Clarets and Jurgen Klopp confirmed that James Milner is a doubt for the tie.

The Englishman has been ever-present in our title run and the manager added that Milner has a slight muscle issue (h/t Liverpoolfc.com):

“He was already outside yesterday. He had a little muscle issue, but there are still two days to go until the game. I think if you ask Millie he would say, ‘I will be ready’ but we have to see.”

The German provided more good news with Dejan Lovren returning to full-training after missing close to two months of action.

Fans want other options in midfield

Milner is one of the most consistent midfielders in the Premier League, but it seems some fans were not convinced of the preferred options in the heart of the park.

Klopp started with Jordan Henderson in the 0-0 against Everton, and some even wanted the captain to not play with Milner against Burnley.

The Reds haven’t started Xherdan Shaqiri or Naby Keita a lot recently. The pair have had their moments this season but it seems they have fallen out of favour an Anfield.
