Latest Liverpool news: Phil Neville backs Andy Robertson as best left-back in Europe

Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has been one of our best signings in recent years.

The Scottish star signed from Hull City has impressed since making his debut for the team and has eight assists to his name in the Premier League this season.

The 24-year-old was also appointed Scotland captain recently, and was in line for some praise from Phil Neville.

The former Manchester United defender was speaking on Match of the Day and claimed the Scot was the best left-back in Europe:

“Robertson I think is the most improved player ever in the Premier League.

“He is the best left-back in Europe I think at this moment in time.”

The former United man also had praise for Trent Alexander-Arnold and claimed that the two full-backs give us a great chance of winning the league.

Robertson getting better with each game

The Scot had a tough start to his Anfield career with Alberto Moreno being preferred initially. However, Robertson has been excellent and is undroppable at the moment.

The left-back provides us with a lot more than just crosses in the team as his energy and attacking ability are second to none in the league.

Neville might be a Manchester United legend but he did get it spot on regarding Robbo. The Scot can only get better under the management of Klopp, and our full-backs have to be at their best if we are to lift a title.

The Reds need to keep Manchester City under pressure in the league while we face Bayern Munich in a huge clash in midweek.

Robertson will be an important player for the rest of the season, and some fans backed Neville’s comments on the 24-year-old.
