Latest Liverpool news: Fans go crazy as Virgil van Dijk puts in monster performance against Bayern Munich

Virgil van Dijk has been the player of the season for Liverpool. The Dutch giant has been at the centre of our Premier League push, and was imperious in the clash against Bayern Munich.

The 27-year-old missed the first leg of the Champions League tie against Bayern, but was back in the team for the second leg.

The centre-back was incredible during the game and kept Robert Lewandowski in his pocket for almost the entirety of the night.

The Dutchman played a role in two of our goals, and certainly enjoyed his time at the Allianz Arena knocking out Bayern.

Van Dijk did his job at the back limiting Bayern’s attack but it was his long-ball that allowed Sadio Mane to score the opener.

There were some nerves when Bayern equalised via Joel Matip’s own goal but the Dutch defender rose tall in the second half to give us the lead.

Van Dijk seems to be scoring more this season and the defender notched up his fourth goal of the campaign for the Reds.

The Dutchman scored against Germany for the Netherlands in the Nations League, and it was his knockout blow that ended all hopes of the Bavarians making a comeback on Wednesday.

Van Dijk is leading our charge on all fronts, and suffice to say, some Liverpool fans could not stop loving the defender.
