Liverpool opinion: Sadio Mane is the most important player in this phase of the campaign

Liverpool came out with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage and leapt ahead of Manchester City in the Premier League.

The win was important as we put pressure on the Cityzens and now sit two points ahead of the Sky Blues.

Pep Guardiola’s men have a game in hand on the Reds, but this win comes at the right time given we are off for the international break.

The Reds would be thankful to James Milner for coming up with the match-winning goal via the penalty spot, however, the man who is continuing our charge in the Premier League and Champions League is Sadio Mane.

The Senegalese man is breaking records for fun

The goal against Fulham took his Premier League tally to 17, which is the most by any Senegalese forward in the history of the Premier League.

The Liverpool forward also is just one goal behind Sergio Aguero in the race for the Golden Boot and is tied with Mohamed Salah on 17.

Mane has also scored nine goals in the league since the turn of the year and is the main man for this phase of the campaign.

Salah’s goals drying up but Mane banging them in

Mohamed Salah has now gone seven games without a goal but Mane is doing the business at the right end of the pitch.

The Senegalese international has scored 10 goals in his last 10 games and has helped us to important wins over Bayern Munich, Burnley and now Watford.

The 26-year-old is the main player for the Reds now given we are in the race for the Premier League and the Champions League.

The former Southampton man has always had an edge in his play, and his aggression could be the difference as we look to beat Manchester City to the title.

Salah is still getting in the right positions but his finishing is a little off. The Egyptian just needs to find Mane more often and for now, seems unable to find the back of the net.

The Senegal star seems ice cool at the moment, and it is great that he is firing on all cylinders when we need him the most.

Our defence has been great this season, however, we have conceded four goals in the last three games, with some mistakes creeping in.

It was a surprise seeing Virgil van Dijk and Alisson making the error for the goal we conceded against Fulham, and hopefully, we don’t make such mistakes for the remainder of the campaign.

Salah was the man that took us to another level last season but Mane is doing the important bit during the important part of the season.

Liverpool need to be at their best as the season reaches its final stretch, and hopefully, Mane continues his incredible form till the end of the campaign.
