Liverpool FC transfer news: Alberto Moreno closing in on Lazio for summer move

The Metro reports that Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno is “closing” in on a move to Lazio with the Italian giants confident of signing him on a pre-contract.

The Spaniard is a free agent at the end of the season and has seen Andy Robertson become Liverpool’s first-choice left-back.

The Scot wasn’t the most expensive signing under Jurgen Klopp, however, he could easily be the best left-back in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old was signed from Sevilla in 2014, however, his time at Anfield has been littered with inconsistent performances.

The report adds that Roma, Atletico Madrid and his former side, Sevilla, are also interested in Moreno’s services.

Old boys come calling for Moreno?

Lazio has a couple of former Liverpool players in Lucas Leiva and Luis Alberto, and the report adds that Moreno met up with Leiva in Roma on Tuesday.

The Brazilian has been great for the Italians since leaving the Reds, and it will be interesting to see where Moreno heads to come the end of the season.

The Spaniard has just two Premier League starts to his name this season with Robertson playing out of his skin in this campaign.

Moreno last started for us in the 2-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup and has even seen James Milner preferred as the left-back in certain games.

Losing the Spaniard on a free shouldn’t make much of a difference to the side, but it will be important to sign a quality left-back as competition for Robertson.
