Liverpool want to sign Gremio forward Everton Soares

Liverpool are set to battle AC Milan for the signature of Gremio star Everton Soares in the summer, reports Calciomercato.

Everton Soares, 23, is one of the hottest properties in South American football currently plying his trade for Gremio. He has broken into the Brazil national team under Tite ahead of the Copa America and is also coveted by some of Europe’s most prestigious clubs.

The 23-year-old forward was in fine form last season, scoring 16 goals in 40 appearances all competitions. He has three senior caps for Brazil too and did feature in last month’s international break, where he came off the bench against Panama.

Interest from Liverpool suggests Jurgen Klopp is looking to bolster his attacking options further ahead of the next campaign. The Reds’ have a formidable attacking unit, with Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah capable of destroying teams without breaking much sweat on their day.

Everton Soares could be a top addition for Liverpool

Most comfortable on the left-hand side of attack, where he is adept at cutting back inside and have a pop at goal, Everton Soares can also lead the line as a sole striker.

Sadio Mane Liverpool

We have Sadio Mane on the left flank always looking to run at defenders with pace and beat them. But what we lack is a natural replacement for the Senegalese should he get injured or Klopp wants to rest him at some point of the campaign.

Mane has been one of our best players this season but needs to have competition in his position. Everton would not only bring competition within the squad but also add quality and a different dimension to the Reds’ attack.

Blessed with incredible close control, raw pace, dribbling skills and ability to exploit spaces behind the defenders, the Brazilian could be a shrewd addition for us.
