Liverpool FC transfer news: Reds seen as likely English destination for Julian Brandt

ESPN reports that Liverpool are seen as the likely Premier League destination for Bayer Leverkusen star Julian Brandt.

The German attacker has a €25m release clause in his contract, and the report claims that Brandt is in high demand.

Borussia Dortmund are also seen as contenders for the 23-year-old, according to the report, while the Reds have been linked with Brandt in the past too (h/t Liverpool Echo).

The Liverpool Echo adds that the Reds wanted to sign Brandt in 2017 but moved for Mohamed Salah as the German wanted to remain at Leverkusen.

The German is a part of an impressive attacking trio at Leverkusen, with Kai Havertz and Leon Bailey creating and scoring loads of goals this season.

Havertz’s stay could be a factor in Brandt’s future

The report adds that Havertz is inclined to remaining at Leverkusen for another season, which could see Brandt stay at the club too.

The 23-year-old Brandt is one of the hottest properties in Germany and nabbing him for €25m would be one of the best deals we have ever pulled off.

The German can play in several attacking positions and would provide Jurgen Klopp the chance to mix and match things in the final third.

The Reds are blessed with two of the best wingers in football with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane scoring goals for fun.

However, we don’t have other quality options to provide some rest to the pair. Brandt would certainly increase the competition for attacking places at Anfield.

Liverpool will be playing Champions League football next season, which isn’t guaranteed at Leverkusen, and we could end this season as winners of the tournament too.
