Liverpool FC transfer news: Adam Lallana seeks return to former club Southampton

The Express reports that Adam Lallana is concerned about his future in Liverpool and has told friends he wants a return to Southampton.

The England midfielder joined the Reds from the Saints in 2014 but his last two seasons have been impacted due to several injuries.

The 31-year-old has played just 16 times for us this season with only six starts to his name. The last time Lallana started for us was in the 2-1 win over Fulham in March, and the report claims that Jurgen Klopp could be tempted to sell the player.

The Reds want close to £13m for the England star, and the report adds that Southampton have the cash to spend in the summer. The Saints did extremely well under Ralph Hasenhuttl and fought off relegation this season.

Injury issues plague a quality player

Lallana is one of the most technically gifted players in the Liverpool team but his injury record has limited his impact at Anfield.

The Saints are also concerned about his problems, according to the report, but the Reds let Danny Ings join Southampton in the summer. Liverpool have a history of signing players from the Saints and hopefully, a deal can be worked out between the parties.

A fit Lallana would be a great asset to the Reds, however, the return of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain provides us with an attacking outlet in the midfield.

Naby Keita was also doing well before his injury against Barcelona, and the Guinea midfielder would reduce Lallana’s time on the pitch next season.
