Liverpool FC transfer news: Jurgen Klopp to give Harry Wilson chance in pre-season

The Liverpool Echo reports that Harry Wilson will be given a chance to prove himself during pre-season and break into the first-team at Liverpool.

The Welsh attacker was on loan at Derby County last season and he helped them reach the play-off final.

Derby lost to Aston Villa but Wilson scored 16 times in the Championship and was one of their best players.

The report claims that Liverpool have been contacted by clubs over Wilson but Jurgen Klopp wants to see the 22-year-old in action before making a decision on his future.

The Reds have several friendlies before the start of the season while they also play Manchester City in the Community Shield.

Liverpool want big money for Wilson

The Reds won’t let Wilson leave on the cheap as they want at least £25million for the 22-year-old, according to the report.

The Liverpool Echo adds Klopp was updated on Wilson’s performances for Derby by Julian Ward, the Liverpool loan pathways manager.

Wilson could be a decent option to have in the team given that we don’t have quality wingers to cover for Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

The Welshman isn’t on the same level as our first-choice pair, however, he has time to develop under Klopp.

Wilson’s got a chance to stake a claim in the Liverpool team, and it will be interesting to track his performances once pre-season begins.
