Latest Liverpool transfer news: Reds interested in FC Porto striker Moussa Marega

Foot Mercato (h/t Liverpool Echo) reports that the Reds are interested in FC Porto striker Moussa Marega. The Mali forward is known for his physicality and he scored 20 goals in all competitions for the Portuguese giants.

The 28-year-old played against us in the quarter-final of the Champions League this season and had a load of chances to score.

Marega could not find the back of the net due to some erratic finishing, however, Liverpool and West Ham United are interested in him, according to the report.

Marega set to feature in the Africa Cup of Nations

The report claims that Marega will captain Mali in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations. Liverpool have a few quality African stars in their team, and Marega could be a decent option to have on the bench.

His physicality and pace will provide us with a different option to Roberto Firmino in the attack and it will be interesting to see if we make a serious move for the 28-year-old.

The report claims that Marseille are also interested in Marega but the Ligue 1 side cannot compete with the financial might of the Premier League pair.

Porto want €30million (h/t Liverpool Echo) for the Mali star and that seems to be a decent value for the striker given his record in the Portuguese league.

Liverpool do have Divock Origi and Rhian Brewster to replace Firmino in the attack.

Brewster returned from a long-term injury while Origi did an excellent job by scoring some crucial goals for us in the previous campaign.
