Latest Liverpool transfer news: Tottenham set to land Liverpool target Dani Ceballos

Liverpool seem set to lose the race for Real Madrid star Dani Ceballos, according to the Mirror.

Marca (h/t Mirror) claimed that the Reds were ready to bid £45m for the 22-year-old. However, the report claims that Tottenham are seen as the favourites to land Ceballos.

The 22-year-old struggled for starts under Zinedine Zidane last season but helped Spain lift the U21 Euros recently.

The report claims that Jurgen Klopp had identified the 22-year-old as one of his summer targets, while AC Milan were also interested in the Spanish sensation.

Tottenham are close to signing the 22-year-old on a one-year loan deal, and they have been busy in the summer. The Champions League finalists have signed Jack Clarke and Tanguy Ndombele this summer so far.

Ceballos can play the role of a creative midfielder and is comfortable playing out wide too.

Liverpool also make a signing in the summer

It has been a relatively quiet summer for us when compared to last season.

Last time around, we signed Fabinho just a day after the defeat to Real Madrid but this summer so far, only Sepp van den Berg has joined from PEC Zwolle.

Liverpool have seen a few departures, with Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno leaving the club after their contracts ended.
