Latest Liverpool news: Plane flies over Manchester United training camp with Champions League message

The Liverpool Echo reports that Manchester United are upset after a prank by a group of Australian Liverpool supporters.

United are currently in Australia preparing for their pre-season tour and were training at the WACA.

The Red Devils are set to face Perth Glory on Saturday, but training was disrupted by a plane carrying a Champions League banner.

The message on the plane read: “LIVERPOOL FC – 6 X EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS!”.

The report claims that United were unhappy with the stunt as they were participating in an open training session in front of 12,000 supporters.

Planned by a lifelong Liverpool supporter

Alun Vernals, a lifelong Liverpool fan, who was born in Perth came up with the plane stunt and told the Liverpool Echo:

“I thought of the idea not long after we won number six in Madrid and realised United would be here.

“I mentioned it to a few of my mates and managed to get 18 people involved to lessen the cost.

“With their pre season being so close to the Champions League final, it seems like only yesterday and I just couldn’t resist!”

There wasn’t really anything wrong with the message that was put up on the plane, and Liverpool have something to celebrate after a barren run of no trophies.

The Reds defeated Tottenham in the Champions League final a month ago, and narrowly missed out on the Premier League crown.

United will not be playing Champions League football next season, while the Reds seem to be getting stronger with every season under Jurgen Klopp.

Winning the first trophy was great with the German last season, and more should be on the way in the coming years.
