Latest Liverpool transfer news: Dossena claims Dybala would be a better fit at Liverpool

Former Liverpool defender Andrea Dossena isn’t sure about Paulo Dybala’s possible move to Manchester United.

The Liverpool Echo claims that the Juventus attacker is in talks with the Red Devils over a move in the summer as Romelu Lukaku could go the other way.

The 25-year-old Argentine is one of the best in the Serie A, but Dossena believes a move to Anfield or even Manchester City would be better.

Dossena was speaking to Tuttomercato and had some harsh words for the Red Devils (h/t Liverpool Echo):

“We are talking about another world football superpower. Manchester United are not ready to win big in Europe so he may as well stay at Juve, hence his vacillations.

“If the team in question had been Liverpool or Manchester City, in my opinion he would have had no doubts.

“United are more of a construction site at the moment, and for this reason I understand indecision -I too would be on 50/50.”

The Italian didn’t have a great time during his spell at Liverpool but he did score that incredible fourth goal in a 4-1 win over the Red Devils at Old Trafford years ago.

Reds not looking to make big moves

Liverpool haven’t made any big signings this summer and have brought in a couple of talented youngsters.

Dybala could be a great player at Anfield, and he would fit well into the scheme of things under Jurgen Klopp.

The move to United is a little confusing given the lack of Champions League football at Old Trafford.

United are also in a rebuilding phase under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and it is unlikely they will challenge for top honours next season too.

Liverpool are in a great position despite not making huge moves in the window, and it will be interesting to see how we compete with Manchester City this season.
