James Pearce shares starting XI changes Liverpool will make against Napoli

Liverpool have been perfect in the Premier League and their Champions League journey begins on Tuesday.

The Champions face a familiar foe from the previous season in the opening game in Italy. Liverpool were paired with Napoli in the group stage last season and the two teams split victories.

Napoli were much better than Liverpool at home and it will be interesting to see if the Italians come out roaring against the Champions League holders.

Jurgen Klopp made a few changes to the starting XI against Newcastle in the previous game.

James Pearce of the Athletic claimed there could be some fresh faces for the Reds during a Q+A session (h/t Daily Star):

“Won’t be many changes. Henderson will come back in and I’m sure Firmino will start. Milner could also get the nod.

“Henderson will come back in for sure. I don’t think Oxlade will start over there.

“Henderson, Fabinho and then either Wijnaldum or Milner.”

The right changes for Liverpool

Jordan Henderson getting a rest against Newcastle was great and the captain returning to the team is just what we need against Napoli.

The Englishman was in excellent form during the end of the previous campaign, and it will be interesting to see how we do in the tough away game.

Roberto Firmino changed the complexion of the game against Newcastle, and his tricks and flicks will help us against Napoli.

James Milner’s experience could be great for the side, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain still needs a few more games to be close to his best.
