Jurgen Klopp confirms Divock Origi is out for a couple of weeks

Divock Origi picked up an injury in our 3-1 win over Newcastle United and had to be replaced by Roberto Firmino.

The Belgian was taken off in the first half after hurting his ankle, and will not feature for Liverpool against Napoli.

The 24-year-old scored some important goals for us in the Champions League last season, and Jurgen Klopp provided an update on the striker (h/t Liverpool Echo):

“The update on Div is that it is not too serious.

“We expect him [to be out for] between one and two weeks, but it depends a little bit on when he can deal with the pain.

“It is nothing really; it’s a feeling, but it should be fine.”

Good news for Liverpool

The Belgian might not be on the same levels as our first-choice front three, but he is a decent player to have on the bench.

The former Lille striker is the back-up to Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, and this update from Klopp is a bit of a relief for us.

Liverpool have some big games coming up after this week, with Leicester City, Tottenham and MK Dons (Carabao Cup) on the horizon.

Origi should feature in some of these games as we need to give a bit of a break to the likes of Mane, Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

The trio has started the season in blistering form, and hopefully, they remain injury-free for the majority of the campaign.
