Liverpool send scout to watch RB Leipzig win over Benfica

Record (h/t Liverpool Echo) claims that the Reds sent a scout over to watch RB Leipzig’s clash against Benfica in the Champions League.

The Germans came out 2-1 winners, thanks to a brace from Timo Werner in the Group G clash.

The Liverpool Echo adds that Werner has been a target for the Reds and was the star of the show, thanks to his brace.

The report, however, doesn’t pinpoint which player Liverpool were watching, but it was another impressive showing by Leipzig.

A Bundesliga powerhouse on the rise

We already signed one player from Leipzig in the past, with Naby Keita joining us. The Guinea midfielder has struggled for fitness since his arrival at Anfield, but the Germans have several quality players in the team.

Leipzig are also leading the Bundesliga currently and are one point ahead of Borussia Dortmund and Freiburg.

Emil Forsberg

Liverpool have been linked with Emil Forsberg in the past (h/t Metro), and Jurgen Klopp has raided Schalke in the past for Joel Matip too.

We haven’t signed many players from the Bundesliga during Klopp’s time, with Loris Karius and Ragnar Klavan being the two other big names.
