Dinamo Zagreb’s asking price for Dani Olmo was too high for Liverpool

Dani Olmo was one of the breakout stars in the recently held U21 Euro championships.

The 21-year-old played a huge role in Spain lifting the title and was linked with Liverpool in the summer (h/t Express).

The attacker also caught the eye of Tottenham, however, Marca (h/t Express) claims that Dinamo Zagreb’s asking price was too high for his suitors.

The Croatian’s slapped a £31million price-tag on Olmo’s head, which seemed to scare away other parties such as Valencia and Atletico Madrid (h/t Express).

The 21-year-old scored three goals and provided one assist as Spain lifted the U21 Euro trophy. Olmo even starred in their 4-0 win over Atalanta in the Champions League.

The youngster didn’t play all that well against Manchester City last night, with Zagreb losing 2-0 at the Etihad. The Reds opted not to spend big in the previous transfer window, and have done well so far this season.

Liverpool have talented players coming through the ranks

Olmo could have been a smart addition to the team given his versatility to play in several positions. However, the Reds have many talented youngsters in their squad and they played well in the 2-0 win over MK Dons.

Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Rhian Brewster all did a great job in the attack while Ki-Jana Hoever was excellent at right-back.

Jurgen Klopp should hand more chances to the youngsters after their performance against the Dons, and it will be interesting to see how things progress with them this season.
