Georginio Wijnaldum included in Liverpool squad for Club World Cup
In a major boost for Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has been declared fit to travel with the squad to take part in the Club World Cup in Qatar (h/t BBC).
There were worries that he may miss out on the tournament after he was taken off injured in the game against Watford at the weekend.
Having already lost Fabinho to an injury for the rest of the year, Liverpool can ill afford to lose another player with a hectic schedule in the coming weeks.
Liverpool Squad for the Club World Cup
Alisson, van Dijk, Wijnaldum, Milner, Keita, Firmino, Mane, Salah, Gomez, Adrian, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Lonergan, Shaqiri, Robertson, Origi, Jones, Alexander-Arnold, Williams.
Liverpool will play Mexican side Monterrey in the semi-finals on the 18th of December at the Education City Stadium in Doha.
South American champions Flamengo will take on AFC Champions League holders Al-Hilal in the other semi-final, setting up the prospect of a rematch of the 1981 Intercontinental Cup final between Liverpool and Flamengo.
Liverpool have participated in the Club World Cup/Intercontinental Cup twice before, finishing as runners-up both times.
