Liverpool face competition from Tottenham and Chelsea for Victor Osimhen
According to the Metro, Liverpool are involved in a battle with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea in the race to sign Lille forward Victor Osimhen.
The 20-year-old Nigerian star, who moved to Lille in the summer, is having a stellar season, notching up 16 goals and 3 assists in 28 appearances across all competitions (h/t Metro).
Nine of those goals have come in the league, making him the joint third top-scorer. Bought in as a replacement for Nicolas Pepe, who moved to Arsenal in the summer, Osimhen has repaid the faith.
Tottenham favourites?
Osimhen was under the tutelage of Joao Sacramento at Lille, who now happens to be the assistant manager to Jose Mourinho at Spurs (h/t Sky Sports).
Jose Mourinho is also close friends with Luis Campos, Lille’s sporting director (h/t Daily Mail).
This could not only give Tottenham a first-hand report of Osimhen’s abilities but also a direct line of communication with the Lille hierarchy.
