Three Things That Could Turn Liverpool’s Season And Klopp’s Future At Anfield

Jurgen Klopp’s arrival at Liverpool arouse a lot of expectations among the fans. After his first few good games there were even talks about winning the title this season. But, Klopp himself is not aiming at the title in his debut season with Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp knows that a top 4 will be a realistic target for Liverpool.

Liverpool were supposed to get a lot of points from their December fixtures as they were comparitively easy, but it did not go as planned. The Reds will need an overhaul to become title contenders. Anyways, let’s concentrate on this season. A top 4 finish will be what Klopp wants. So here are three things Klopp must do to get Liverpool into the top 4.

1. Do Some Wise Business In January:

It is understood from Klopp’s words about the January transfer window that he is not going to make a overhaul too soon. He will be only bringing in players that Liverpool really want at the moment. Klopp has made some wise buys in January in the past and he could do the same at Liverpool, but will he bring in any first team players? There are lot of questions whose answers are unknown. But we do know that Liverpool need a new centre back. Kolo Toure and Mamadou Sakho are the only two centre backs available for Liverpool at the moment. Lovren, Joe Gomez and Martin Skrtel are all out due to injuries. Lovren could return soon, but that won’t be enough. Lovren has always been a doubt, because he never performs consistently.

Joel Matip is heavily linked with Liverpool. Many reports say that Liverpool will sign him in January, but he will only join the team in the summer transfer window for a free transfer. Latest reports say that Liverpool are willing to pay 4 million to get Matip in January itself, because Skrtel could be out for three months and they desperately need a new centre back. Marko Grujic looks like a done deal for Liverpool but he too will only be joining the team in summer.

Next few fixtures could decide the fate of Mignolet. If he does not step up, Klopp will probably get a new goalkeeper. A goalkeeper will be second most important position Klopp will be looking to reinforce in January. It is tough to predict if Klopp will bring in any attacking players. Klopp is always unpredictable, but he will definitely do some wise business in January.
