Three Things Learned From Liverpool’s Win Over Stoke City: Klopp Has Changed The Anfield Atmosphere

Liverpool will now be going to Wembley to play the Capital One Cup finals after they defeated Stoke City. Liverpool played Stoke at Anfield on Tuesday with a one goal advantage over the Potters, but the Stoke players refused to give up and fought till the end. When the initial ninety minutes were over Stoke were leading 1-0 over Liverpool.

It was Arnautovic who scored for Stoke. It was little unfortunate for Liverpool as Arnautovic was offside but the linesman didn’t see it. The aggregate score at the end of ninety minutes was 1-1 which meant that the game would go on to extra time. Both sides were not able to score during the extra time which saw the game go on to penalties. Mignolet saved two penalties while Emre Can missed for Liverpool. Liverpool won the game with a final score of 6-5.

Though the game was not a high scoring one, it was entertaining. The game might have given mini heart attacks to the fans from both sides. Here are three things we learned from the game:

1. Flanagan can challenge for the full back spot:

Jon Flanagan was given his first start for Liverpool since his return from his long injury which set him aside for more than a year. Liverpool’s preferred right back, Nathaniel Clyne, was out due to an injury which gave Flanagan the chance to impress. The youngster did well on his return and though his passing and distribution was rusty at times, he did his defensive responsibilities well. He will take some time to get back to his best form but still his return is a big boost for Liverpool. Clyne and Moreno are two Liverpool players who have been playing tirelessly. Now that Flanagan has returned they will have a break.
