Liverpool’s bid for Alex Teixeira has been rejected a few weeks back. The bid of £24 million obviously did not meet the valuation of the Ukranian club Shaktar Donetsk. Recently it has been reported in news that the player himself has expressed interest in moving to Liverpool and urged the club to accept Reds’ bid.
The club thinks otherwise though. They want to keep the talented forward as they want to win the league title and push for Europa League trophy as well. For that, they will need their top scoring forward.
Sergei Palkin, the chief executive at Shakhtar Donetsk has told Liverpool to either trigger Teixeira’s buyout clause or to forget about making the transfer happen this month. With two days remaining, the clock is ticking for Liverpool to make a decision. The buyout clause states the value of the player is £53.3 million. Liverpool probably will not want to pay this amount in mid-season window.
