Liverpool Player Rating vs Aston Villa

After giving away a two goal lead against Sunderland last week, Liverpool returned to winning ways by thrashing a poor Aston Villa side. The Reds scored six past Villa and all of those six goals were scored by different players. Aston Villa was headless and hitting the framework was the closest they came. None of the Liverpool players were poor, but who was great? How did returning Coutinho and Sturridge fare?

Liverpool Player ratings

Simon Mignolet – 7

A confident display from the under fire Belgian goalkeeper. He had no much saves to make but he did well to deal with the crosses and set pieces. He was not hesitant to punch the ball. Almost dropped the ball from a Bacuna shot.

Nathaniel Clyne – 8

As always, Clyne was consistent both with his attacking display and defensive display. And this time, he was rewarded with a goal. His first shot was saved by Bunn but was able to score from the slow rebound.

Kolo Toure – 8

Had nothing much to do defensively but was in control throughout the game. Kolo Toure scored his first goal for Liverpool and his celebration showed his happiness.

Mamadou Sakho – 7

Sakho was no different from Kolo Toure except that he did not score. Had nothing much to do but was in control. His passing at times was shaky. Sakho almost got a head to Milner’s freekick which went in.
Alberto Moreno – 7

Moreno has been receiving lot of criticism lately for his poor defending but against Aston Villa he was not troubled much by the Villains. He was very active in Liverpool’s attacking build-ups. He was a real threat going forward.

Emre Can – 8

Can was a tank in the midfield and was rewarded with a goal. He was co posed in Liverpool’s midfield. He looks rusty when in possession but did nothing wrong. His shot that went in was perfect and taken well.
Jordan Henderson – 7

The Captain was comparatively quiet in the match but never stopped running. He was letting others do the job and he was just playing along. A simple captain’s performance. Henderson almost scored but unfortunately, the shot got deflected and went for a corner.

James Milner – 7.5

Milner returned to his old club and scored. He was lucky with his goal but he did very well and he deserved it. He never stopped running and his work rate is phenomenal. His passing was good and on point.

Roberto Firmino – 7

Firmino played a little more deeper role due to the return of Daniel Sturridge and still he did great. He was involved in Liverpool’s attacking build-ups and also linked well with Sturridge and Coutinho. Got the assist for Can’s goal.

Philippe Coutinho – 9

The Brazilian Magician returned for Liverpool and marked his return in style. Coutinho assisted three of Liverpool’s goals and is Liverpool’s Man of The Match for the game. Liverpool will want him to be fit for remaining of the season to keep their top 4 dreams alive.

Daniel Sturridge – 8

Sturridge returned to Liverpool’s starting line-up and as expected from him, he scored. He scored from an amazing Coutinho cross. He looked good throughout and his performance showed what Liverpool had lacked. Like Coutinho, Liverpool will also want him to be to keep top 4 dreams alive.

Substitutes:

Divock Origi – 8

Origi’s first contribution was a goal. He became the fastest scorer in the premier league this season after he scored just after 27 seconds of his arrival. He looked great and is in nice touch.

Kevin Stewart – 7
The youngster was awarded his debut for Liverpool for his great performances in the cup games. And he did pretty well. Was the only Liverpool player to be booked.
