Kolo Toure has said that he may be leaving the club at the end of the season after three years with the Merseyside outfit. The former Arsenal and Manchester City player will be out of contract in the summer and the club has not been too keen to renew his contract so far.
Jurgen Klopp has his own plan and has already signed Joel Matip, who will move to Anfield in the summer. By this move ,Toure would move down the pecking order and Liverpool feels he is a surplus at this point of time.
‘The future is not the most important thing for me. What’s important is what’s happening right now. I’m in the team at the moment and I am showing every game that I’m still here,’ said Toure.
‘It doesn’t matter what other people say, I have this smile, I’m very happy and I always give 100% for this club. This club is amazing.
‘If I keep performing that will force people to change their minds (about a new contract). Sometimes you can make people change their minds by performing well and that’s my challenge right now.
‘I can show people by my games that I’m still a top player. That’s all I can do. I am a fighter and I will fight until the end.’
Toure has said that he will fight for a new contract by displaying his performance on the field but also has hinted that it is possible that will not change Liverpool’s mind. The defender is brother to Yaya Toure and was previously in other big Premier League clubs. He is quite popular with the Liverpool fans and the team and is hoping that will get him a new contract.
