Liverpool Player Ratings vs Crystal Palace

The fixture which has become a nightmare for Liverpool in recent years turned out to be quite an eventful event. After going a man down for the last half an hour, the Reds made an astonishing comeback to overcome Crystal Palace 1-2 at Selhurst Park.

James Milner was the player who got sent off in the second half following two cynical tackles. Damien Delaney scored for the hosts and Roberto Firmino and the Super sub Christian Benteke won it for the reds.

Let’s take a look at the player ratings from the encounter against the Eagles :

1. Simon Mignolet: 6.5

Best player on the pitch in the first half. Made some fine saves but couldn’t do anything for the goal by Delaney.

2. Jon Flanagan  5.5

After an impressive run in against Man City , couldn’t produce the performance that was expected from the local boy. Erratic passing and not offering much going forward was the reason he was substituted.

3. Dejan Lovren: 7.5

Best defender on the pitch by a mile. Won 90% of his aerial duels and regaining his form with every passing match.

4. Mamadou Sakho: 6.5

The Frenchman was soild at the back and partnered Lovren very well. This centre back pairing looks like it is here to stay.

5. Alberto Moreno: 6.5

Handled the pace of Wilfred Zaha on the flanks really well. Unlucky with his effort on the goal , and has improved drastically from his last outing.

6. Jordan Henderson: 5.5

Good in providing cover for the defense and in intercepting but is yet to regain his form after the injury. Picked up an unnecessary booking.

7. James Milner: 3.5

After an amazing performance against his former club, this was nowhere near the effort that was expected from the vice-captain. Deserved a Red card.

8. Emre Can: 7

Playing like a veteran these past few games. Barring one overrun effort, the German was brilliant in the midfield and also in the defense after the sending off.

9. Adam Lallana: 6.5

Brilliant work rate and continued his good form that is on display in the recent games. Had a passing accuracy of 92% and was a menace to the Palace defense because of his pace.

10. Roberto Firmino: 7

Continued his brilliant run in 2016 and scored a well-taken goal. Kept the play ticking at all times and combined well with Coutinho in the second half.

11. Divock Origi: 6.5

Held the ball well at times and showed pace in the first half. The youngster is showing real promise over the period of time, and will look to gain more minutes under his belt.

Subs: Philippe Coutinho: 6.5

Was the catalyst for the resurgence of the reds. Brought an extra dimension to the attack in the second half.

Christian Benteke: 7

Should have scored with his first touch and looked like a man on a mission for his cameo. Slotted home a cool penalty and the winning goal will bring him loads of confidence.

Kolo Toure: N/A

Saw out the game at centre back and didn’t have anything much to do.

Man of the Match: Dejan Lovren.
