Jurgen Klopp was given one tough assignment when he arrived at Anfield. The team not in great form, a lot of injury woes and a sense of anxiety and despair amongst the supporters. The German’s arrival gave the fans a new hope and new possibilities. Since day one, Klopp has been under a lot of pressure due to the expectations bestowed upon him. As the season is reaching its climax, all eyeballs are on him as to how his team will finish the season. When it comes to team selection, Klopp has always had to deal with a lot of constraints. Here is a look at his best 11 this season.

Klopp

Simon Mignolet is the first choice goalkeeper for Liverpool. He has been criticized a lot for some of his performances but time and again he does prove that he is a good goalkeeper and worthy of a spot in the starting 11.

The back line

Liverpool’s campaign suffered a big blow when Joe Gomez suffered from a long term injury right at the start of the season. Lovren has shown good amount of improvement under Klopp but he is not the best that Klopp has. Sakho and Skrtel make it in the starting 11 due to their presence at the back and their defensive abilities. Nathaniel Clyne has been pretty consistent throughout the season on the right and Alberto Moreno has been the first choice for the manager at the left.

Midfield

Emre Can

Emre Can has shown tremendous abilities as a holding midfielder and he is compared to the likes to Didi Hamann by many. He along with Jordan Henderson lay a solid foundation for the midfield. Philippe Coutinho is the perfect CAM for Liverpool. James Milner can be a good contributor in the mid but his duties are crucial at the wings.

Attack

firmino
Firmino

Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings were injured for the majority of the season. Christian Benteke also did not impress much with a lot of inconsistency in his performances. James Milner and Adam Lallana have been good throughout the season at the sides and Roberto Firmino has been pivotal at the front. If we look at the attackers – Milner, Lallana and Firmino are the ones who have performed very well this season and deserve to be in the strongest possible starting XI.

Although, there is not one particular formation that has become the favorite for the manager but more or less these are the 11 players who have shown enough promise for the season.
