According to Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Liverpool are preparing to let go of martin Skrtel in the summer transfer window. After eight long years with Liverpool, the player is set to fall to the squad rebuild process.
Liverpool were 2 goals up against Southampton on Sunday till 63rd minute. A disastrous performance from Skrtel that caused three late strikes from the Saints ended the game at 3-2 with Southampton winning. The fans were furious as two of the goals that Sadio Mane scored went just in front of Skrtel’s side and the veteran defender was not fit enough to stop Mane.
It is claimed now that Joel Matip, the new defender who will be arriving in the summer from Schalke is set to replace Martin Skrtel. It is a little sad considering that he has made over 300 appearances since joining Liverpool from Zenit Saint Petersburg but given that he is already 31 years old it may be better to let go of Skrtel.
