Scout Report: Lucas Alario – Find Out Why Liverpool Wants Him

Liverpool have made a transfer approach for the summer window for River Plate forward Lucas Alario. Jurgen Klopp has been keeping a track of the 23-year-old Argentine for quite some time and according to a report by ESPN FC, a possible move to Anfield is highly possible. This is what the Argentine had to say when he was asked about his recent link-up with Liverpool.

“Tell them to contact me. Given the choice, I’d like to experience the Premier League, and I’d like to play for Liverpool. I always select them when I play football on the PlayStation.”

The gaming reference made the statement a bit lighter but his intentions of playing for Liverpool were quite relevant and he did not deny the fact of a possible future at Anfield.

Who is Lucas Alario?

The Argentine began his professional career with Colon in 2011 and after four successful seasons moved to River Plate. Alario managed to score 10 goals in his 19 appearances for the club this season and has shown tremendous promise as a striker. He helped his team win the Copa Libertadores and was also instrumental in the semifinal match of the World Club Cup and went on to score the winning goal in that game. Alario is known to capitalize on opportunities within the box and is a very sharp striker who converts half-chances into goals. His heading abilities also make him a prolific striker.

Why Liverpool?

Jurgen Klopp has been very busy scouting attacking talents across Europe and now even in the Americas. This season, Liverpool have lacked the services of a high-scoring striker and have to rely a lot on their attacking midfield for the goals. With Alario coming in, he can certainly become a lucrative attacking option for Jurgen Klopp to choose for the next season. The Argentine can team up with Firmino up-front and can provide those finishes inside the box which were missing this season. However, it has been observed that young players who move to the BPL from the Brazilian and Argentine leagues take at least a year to settle and get used to the physical game in the premiere league. But considering the experience that Alario brings along, if this move happens he should not take much time to get into his strides. If this deal happens at agreeable conditions for both the clubs, it could benefit Liverpool in terms of the attacking depth and options.
