4 Ways Klopp And Liverpool Can Cope With The Injury To Emre Can In The Remaining Games

Liverpool made a next to impossible comeback against Borussia Dortmund as Jurgen Klopp’s men played their best on the big night. This glorious night did bring some bad news for the camp as their star midfielder Emre Can suffered a ligament injury which rules him out for six weeks. The 22 year old injured his ankle ligaments and was seen leaving the pitch minutes after the injury. Can was one of the key members of Jurgen Klopp’s side and he was in tremendous form in the last few games. An injury means he is out for the remaining season which means Liverpool will be without their first choice midfield partnership of Jordan Henderson and Emre Can for their six league games and the Europa league semi-finals and hopefully a final.

Can’s injury came as a big blow to Jurgen Klopp as he now faces a tough choice with two of his key midfielders side-lined. The manager gave a nod to many of the youngsters in the league clashes against Stoke and Bournemouth and it did pay off for his side as they managed to get all six points. The manager will have to look for his alternative options for the midfield and might need to make a few tactical changes.

Joe Allen

Allen has managed to showcase his abilities in the last few games and under the new manager he has made tremendous improvement as a player. His game has become mature and he can certainly play in the defensive midfield position for Emre Can till he gets fit. Klopp also went on to praise the Welshman by saying that he deserves a future at Liverpool.

Lucas Leiva

The Brazilian who has been at Anfield for more than eight years and is a natural holding midfielder can also take the place of Emre Can and partner up with Joe Allen or James Milner in the midfield. In that case, Allen might need to play a bit up-front in the position of Henderson.

James Milner

Klopp also has the option to play James Milner in the center. Milner joined Liverpool with a hope of playing in the central position but he was asked to play at the sides for most of the time. This might be his chance to showcase his abilities as a central midfielder.

Kevin Stewart

Stewart had a really good game against Stoke and was decent away at Bournemouth. Klopp might consider playing him in some of the remaining games.
