Player Ratings: How Did The Liverpool Youngsters Fared Against The Swans?

Liverpool Player Ratings

Liverpool traveled to the Liberty stadium for their 35th game of the season and the result was a disappointing one for Jurgen Klopp as his team dropped three points and conceded three goals as well. The manager made a few changes to the side that faced Villarreal in the mid-week clash but the line-up couldn’t produce the desired result. Here is a look at how the players fared in the game.

Danny Ward – 6.5

Klopp gave the nod to Ward ahead of Mignolet and the goalkeeper managed to make some decent saves. However his side conceded three due to woeful defending, Ward tried his best.

Nathaniel Clyne – 6.5

Clyne was working hard and his game was pretty standard. But the right back has raised standards and expectations and in this game, he could not match to that.

Martin Skrtel – 4

The veteran defender is almost on his way out and had a last chance to impress the fans and the manager. He was also made the captain for the game but did not justice whatsoever to the role. He was guilty for the third goal and was not at all confident at the back.

Dejan Lovren – 5

Lovren was showing signs of improvement when he was partnered with Sakho at the back but with Skrtel there was a dip in his form as well. The defender was not at his best and was caught out of position a few times.

Brad Smith – 5.5

Smith was preferred over Moreno for this game and the left-back had impressed the manager in his earlier appearances but he couldn’t replicate them in today’s game. He received two yellow cards leading to his sending off.

Kevin Stewart – 5

Stewart couldn’t dictate midfield and is too raw at the moment. A promising player but currently not developed enough to play in the league. He was not able to hold possession or back-track the attacks.

Pedro Chirivella – 5

Chirivella made his debut in this game but couldn’t do much with the ball. He was guilty of losing possession many times.

Sheyi Ojo – 6.5

Ojo was looking dynamic in the game and was a threat at the side with his pace and tricks.

Phillippe Coutinho – 5.5

The main man for Liverpool was not up to his mark in the game against Swansea. The Brazilian did not have a good game mid-week and the same happened in this one.

Jordan Ibe – 5

Ibe couldn’t create any chances and his runs down the wings did not produce anything substantial.

Daniel Sturridge – 5.5

Sturridge was not creating enough chances for himself inside the box and was not at all sharp going forward.

Substitutes

Lucas Leiva – 5

In for Chirivella in the second half but could not turn the game and maintain possession.

Christian Benteke – 6.5

Another half-time replacement for Coutinho. The Belgian scored a goal with a well-timed header.

Cameron Brannagan – 5

He was brought to replace Ibe at the 80th minute but it was too late for any impact.
