After a disappointing start to the 2015-16 season, no one would have thought that this team would play in two finals that too when a new manager comes in between the season. Jurgen Klopp thought otherwise and has completely changed the perception of everyone ; be it the fans or the players. The stadium has been buzzing in recent games and the Dortmund game saw one of the best atmosphere at Anfield in recent times.
The fans have truly made the journey from being doubters to believers as demanded by Jurgen Klopp and if a European trophy is added in the illustrious cabinet, Jurgen Klopp’s men will truly arrive at the big stage and the fans can hope for a glorious future under the German. Along with the team, some individuals have made drastic improvements and the likes of Dejan Lovren, Joe Allen and Adam Lallana were never liked by the fans earlier but now under the enigmatic German, all of them have made immense progress.
Still a lot of work needs to be done in the summer transfer window to bring in the right blend of players who can play to Klopp’s tactics and can make this team a tad better. Many positions need strengthening so let’s take a look at three must improvements that Liverpool need this summer :
1. Goalkeeper:
This is the area which needs urgent upgrading. Both the keepers that Reds have at their disposal are decent, but not at the level that the reds aspire to. Mignolet needs to have a better competition for the no. 1 spot and the work has already started in that direction. The 22 year old Mainz goalkeeper, Loris Karius is rumored to be the signing that can solve the issue related to the goalkeeper because of which many points have been dropped this campaign.
2. Left back:
Alberto Moreno is an able full back, but he too needs competition to bring out the best in him. Jonas Hector can be the solution or the youngster, Ben Chilwell is also targeted who has a bright future ahead of him and is dubbed as a future England international.
3. Defensive midfielder:
Lucas Leiva has been a brilliant servant to the club and is one of the leaders in the squad. But, if a title challenge is to be mounted or a fine cup run is to be expected, Klopp needs to buy a defensive midfielder who will be an upgrade on the Brazilian. Ignacio Camacho can be an option and he may also come cheap which can be an added incentive. For a title winning squad, a fine defensive midfielder as proved by Fernandinho, Nemanja Matic, and N’golo Kante, the important players of the last three title winning teams.
