The reds were left heartbroken after a disappointing second half performance against Sevilla who robbed them off the Europa League and subsequently a place in the next season’s Champions League. After getting a lead in the first half thanks to a Sturridge wonder goal, Liverpool panicked on the biggest stage and were beaten 3-1 by the Spanish team.

This season has been a rollercoaster ride and there just hasn’t been any consistency to match some of the breathtaking performances under Jurgen Klopp. The reds have made immense progress under the German’s leadership but losing two finals in the space of eight months must have been anguishing for Klopp. There wont be any European competitions for the reds next campaign and that many work I’m favour for Klopp’s men like it did in the 2013-14 season.

With Klopp at the helm, new faces are expected to join the squad in summer and many are expected to be offloaded where Klopp has proved to be quite ruthless. The likes of Coutinho, Firmino, Can, Sturridge and Clyne have been the standout performers this season and Klopp will look to strengthen the side in just two three positions. Let’s take a look at the three players that must be sold in the summer :

1. Simon Mignolet :

The Belgian has been a good shot stopper and has done decent for the reds, but he has made a lot of mistakes and has cost the team a lot of points. He is just not at the level that the reds require and Klopp has worked on it and Mainz 05 keeper, Loris Karius is expected to sign for the Club in the coming days to provide some much relief between the posts. The German is a world class prospect and can become one of the league’s best under Jurgen Klopp.

2. Martin Skrtel:

The Slovakian has been a loyal player to the club, but his time is up at Anfield. He has had a below par season and has involved in many errors that led to a goal. His introduction at St. Mary’s against the Saints proved to be the final nail in his coffin as the reds were cruising at 2-0 and his arrival caused panic in the back line which led to a 3-2 capitulation of the reds. He looked quite emotional in the last game and waved goodbye to the supporters meaning the end has come in his Liverpool career.

3. Mario Balotelli:

Many other names like Lucas, Joao Teixeira and Christian Benteke might be sold, but the one name that needs to be cleared off the books is of the mercurial striker, Mario Balotelli. Signing the Italian was a mistake and though the reds have to accept a lower sum for him, Liverpool should look to sell him as soon as possible as Balotelli has absolutely no future at the club and is earning quite a large chunk of money from the club.
