Reports in Portugal has suggested that Liverpool made a bid of £20 million for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Islam Slimani. However the bid has been rejected.

The report was published by Portuguese news outlet Noticias ao Minuto. The 27 year old player has impressed last season with 32 goals in all competitions and there were reports that Arsenal and Leicester City too were interested in  his services. Slimani, an Algerian international has £24 million release clause and Sporting is refusing to do business with anyone who does not meet that release clause.

Liverpool have already signed a goalkeeper, a defender and a winger for next season. Now the manager Jurgen Klopp is looking to add some midfielder as there may be a few exits. Also several big clubs like PSG and Barcelona are showing interest in Philippe Coutinho and this could complicate matters. No wonder we are getting a lot of reports of Liverpool being linked with midfielders.
